More About Sage!
Sage has a deep interest in Depth Therapy, with some added flavors of existentialist and Lacanian philosophy. He loves building up identity with folks, bringing a reflective, relational lens to therapy. Sessions with Sage often explore themes of identity, meaning, and what our brains might be doing in the background without us even realizing it! While he is committed to deep therapy work, Sage also understands when to keep things real, offering tools and strategies to support day-to-day living. Sage also provides career counseling for whern folks are primarily focused on navigating work, education, or life transitions rather than mental health concerns. He believes that healing and self-organization are innate abilities in folks; sometimes we just need a lending hand to help access these abilities.
Sage is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. In his future, he hopes to be able to provide services to neurodivergent communities both in counseling sessions and with research.
A calling to lend a helping hand has always been a part of Sage's purpose. Raised by a high school teacher and a nurse, Sage grew up learning the power of people in helping professions. He volunteered as a firefighter in his hometown before he moved out to the Pittsburgh area to study social sciences. Sage graduated with his Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from PennWest California. At the same university, he received his Bachelor's in Sociology with a concentration in Social Deviance and a minor in Psychology.
In his free time, Sage can often be found playing the guitar he built, playing the piano, or clicking away on a mouse and keyboard to the tune of various video games. That is, when he doesn't have his eyes glued to a good research article or new book.
