More About Matt!
Matthew Steiner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Vice President of Connection Counseling and Consultation, Inc. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 with Music and Political Science as related areas of study. He earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013.
Matt began his social work career working with children and families within the Child Welfare System in 2003. He gained invaluable experience working alongside a diverse population of children, families, and colleagues. He learned about trauma and the intricacies and challenges within family systems, as well as the resilience and resourcefulness of the human spirit.
Matt has been in private practice since 2017. Within his practice, he focuses on creating an environment in which everyone feels safe, accepted, and empowered to explore and express what they are ready to explore and express at this point in their process.
Matt strongly believes that we all have the capacity to grow, heal, self-regulate, and thrive with more awareness and attunement to our own personal power. Matt’s role is to help you connect with yourself and get to know yourself in a holistic and Metta (loving-kindness) manner.
Matt considers himself a Gestalt Therapist. He also utilizes aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness in his treatment based on his client’s needs and preferences.
Matt completed the Advanced Gestalt Training Program through the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh in 2022. He received a Certificate in Advanced Clinical Supervision: A Gestalt Perspective through the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh in 2026.
Matt is excited to begin offering supervision for licensed therapists (LPCs, LCSWs) who want to continue to grow, challenge themselves, and/or reignite their passion for this work. Potential supervisees can reach out to Matt via Psychology Today for more information.
In his time outside of work, Matt enjoys writing and recording music, spending time in nature with his dog, Dottie, cooking with lots of olive oil, and going on adventures near and far with his best friend/partner.
