More About Mariah!
Mariah moved to Pittsburgh from a small town in central Pennsylvania in 2016. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Chatham University and plans to pursue licensure upon graduating in May 2026. Mariah has been interning at Connection Counseling & Consultation since April 2025. Through this role, she has gained experience providing neurodivergent-affirming therapy, executive functioning coaching, and facilitating and co-facilitating group therapy. She has experience providing therapy and coaching to children, adolescents, and adults.
Mariah earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Chatham University in 2020. During her undergraduate studies, her research focused on the lifelong effects of childhood trauma and the role of play in social-emotional development. She worked as a therapeutic childcare professional at a crisis nursery, where she discovered her passion for supporting neurodivergent children and their families. In this role, Mariah wrote a grant to obtain sensory tools for children to use both in the center and at home, and provided staff education on sensory processing and regulation.
As an early childhood educator, Mariah utilized play-based approaches to support young children in developing emotional awareness, identification, and regulation skills. She is committed to creating safe, accessible, and empowering spaces for the neurodivergent community.
Mariah takes a client-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring her work to each individual’s unique needs, strengths, and lived experiences. Her approach is grounded in empowerment and autonomy, with space for play and creative expression. Mariah believes neurodiversity is not something to be changed or fixed, but understood, accepted, and honored as a valuable and meaningful part of human diversity.
In her free time, Mariah enjoys spending time with her fiancé, son, and their two cats. She loves being outdoors, browsing for books and trinkets, and experiencing live music.
