More About Erin N!

Erin is in year two of Chatham University’s Master of Science in Counseling Psychology program. Those studies have focused on the ways in which people use the unique strengths provided by their personal experiences to meet life’s challenges, at all ages and stages of development. Erin believes in the healing power (and the challenge!) of learning to nurture self-compassion, and in the use of humor and perspective to find ways to thrive amid the messiness of being human in this moment.

Erin comes to counseling after careers in clinical research and librarianship and has a B.A. in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience from Kenyon College, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. (This makes for an excellent source of book recommendations!) Erin believes these careers are connected by a desire to help people discover what they need to answer questions and solve problems. Having spent adulthood immersed in the culture and politics of neurodiversity, it is exciting to join a practice focused on affirmation, identity-building, and the power of living authentically. Most of the time, for school and for pleasure, Erin can almost always be found nose-in-book or audiobook-in-ears. Pittsburgh has been Erin’s home since toddlerhood. Erin currently keeps busy with a house full of teenagers and rescued pets (two teenagers, three cats, and a gentle giant of a dog).
